For visually rich films, Dolby Vision often delivers better picture quality than IMAX Laser. This is especially true during dark or high contrast scenes.

Dolby Cinema is also far more expensive to build than IMAX. Its dual laser E3LH projection system costs nearly twice as much as an IMAX Laser XT setup. When this is combined with Dolby Atmos sound, a pitch-black auditorium design, and steep stadium seating, the experience becomes very immersive. Many film lovers even consider it superior to IMAX in overall visual and audio quality.
