The other day, Kalvakuntla Kavitha delivered an emotional speech in the Council, stating that it was her last day as an MLC. She became visibly emotional while speaking about how she was insulted, sidelined, and eventually pushed out of the BRS Party despite her contributions.
Her speech was deeply personal in nature and surprised many as the Chair allowed her to continue without interruption. The Council Chairman, Gutta Sukhender Reddy from the BRS, did not intervene. It is believed he felt stopping her could trigger sympathy and further damage.
As expected, no BRS leader officially responded to Kavitha's emotional address in the Council. However, the party's social media teams quickly went on the offensive. They began circulating narratives questioning her intentions and political conduct.
According to these claims, Kavitha wanted to undertake district tours after her release from jail, which KCR reportedly opposed. They allege she ignored party advice and began tours driven by her own agenda. This narrative was widely pushed online.
Another allegation doing the rounds is that Kavitha sought the post of BRS Working President alongside KTR. Supporters claim she turned rebellious after being denied the position. Efforts are being made to project her actions as a power struggle.
The situation suggests that the BRS is uncertain about how to politically counter Kavitha. A similar scenario was seen in Andhra Pradesh before 2024 involving Jagan Mohan Reddy. His response to Sharmila's rebellion was marked by silence.
Jagan allowed his social media teams to attack Sharmila while maintaining distance himself. Though Sharmila did not achieve major political success, her actions did cause some damage to YSR Congress.
Kavitha, however, is considered a more experienced and practical politician than Sharmila. This makes the challenge more serious for the BRS leadership. Observers feel KTR needs a clear strategy to effectively counter her growing influence.
