The controversial NTV programme alleging that two female IAS officers offered sexual favours to a Minister for favourable postings sparked major outrage in Telangana politics.
The show directly targeted Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, triggering widespread debate and political tension.
The Telangana government treated the matter seriously, formed a Special Investigation Team, and arrested some NTV journalists. The issue quickly moved beyond media ethics and entered the political arena, with parties and leaders reacting strongly to the allegations and the arrests.
ABN Radhakrishna later addressed the controversy in his weekly column Kotha Paluku and raised questions about the underlying motive. He linked the entire episode to the Naini coal block in Odisha, owned by Singareni, where mining tenders were recently floated.
According to the column, a company linked to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's brother applied for the tender. It also claimed that another Minister in Revanth Reddy's cabinet, Bhatti Vikramarka, and NTV Chowdary's son-in-law are involved in business together, forming a joint venture with Megha to submit another bid.
Radhakrishna suggested that this business rivalry was the reason NTV targeted Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Following this, Bhatti Vikramarka addressed the media and denied all allegations, stating that his political career is focused on serving marginalised sections, not business interests.
However, Bhatti also dragged Chandrababu Naidu into the issue, a move that surprised many. He hinted that Radhakrishna's criticism stemmed from personal loyalties and past associations with YSR and Revanth Reddy rather than facts related to the case.
Questions were raised about the relevance of bringing Chandrababu Naidu or YSR into a matter involving two Ministers within Revanth Reddy's cabinet. Observers noted that there is no clear evidence linking either Andhra politics or past rivalries to this Telangana-specific controversy.
Many believe Bhatti Vikramarka's remarks were an attempt to shift focus away from the core issue. By invoking YSR and Andhra connections, critics argue that public attention was deliberately diverted from the original allegations and political accountability within Telangana.
