A brief spell of rainfall has once again exposed the recurring waterlogging problem in Guwahati's Jorabat area, with a major stretch of the National Highway getting submerged under floodwater.
The road beneath the Jorabat flyover was flooded shortly after the rain, severely affecting vehicular movement and causing inconvenience to commuters.
The accumulated water brought traffic movement on the lower stretch of the highway to a near standstill, leaving many vehicles struggling to pass through the waterlogged route.
Meanwhile, traffic movement continued over the Jorabat flyover, but the situation created additional pressure as vehicles from both directions were forced to use the same route. This led to heavy congestion on the flyover, with long queues of vehicles reported during peak hours.
The recurring artificial flooding at Jorabat has once again raised concerns over drainage infrastructure and water management in the area. The residents and regular commuters have urged authorities to take permanent measures to address the issue and prevent disruption further.
